About Us

HELLO, and welcome to New Mexico State University at Alamogordo (NMSU-A)! People make a college great, so whether you are a prospective student, current student, professor, staff member, graduate, community member, parent, neighbor, or visitor, your interest and enthusiasm are valued and appreciated.

Our faculty and staff create a dynamic environment that engages students in the process of learning. Our strong commitment to each student provides a personalized approach that is both academically challenging and personally supportive. Our Academic Support Center staff provides students with on-site and online tutoring services. You will also discover that our student-friendly staff in Student Services is ready to assist you with admittance to the college, to help you with career and schedule planning, or to provide information about scholarships and financial aid.

The campus continues to expand; during Academic Year 2008-2009, we will serve over 6,000 students. The construction of new facilities to meet the needs of our campus, along with the renovation of existing facilities to be more sustainable, is part of our long-term vision. The new Allied Health addition, which is scheduled to be completed during summer 2009, will be the first building in Southern New Mexico built to LEED Silver certification standards. We are also starting the process of using more xeriscape landscaping, updating our energy management system, replacing some older light fixtures and using more recycled materials,

I hope you will take some time to navigate through our site and learn about the many qualities that make NMSU-A so special. And no matter what your reason is for visiting, we are glad you came!

Dr. Cheri Jimeno, President of NMSU Alamogordo
