Orientation for Spring 2012!
Welcome to NMSU-A! Before you are able to complete the process of registering for classes, you will need to complete the following requirements:
- Placement Assessments – Assessment of your writing, reading and math skills.
You will need to visit the Advising Counter and request a ‘ticket’ for placement testing. Testing is on a reserved seat basis. Advisors will assist you in scheduling your appointment. Testing MUST BE COMPLETED prior to orientation date. *** If you have taken the ACT, bring your scores into Advising and we will determine if your scores are high enough to waive the evaluation.
- Attend our MANDATORY ORIENTATION DAY – 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. You will:
- Listen to a presentation on college requirements
- Attend Blackboard training and set up your ‘my.nmsu’ account
- Enjoy a free lunch!
- See an Advisor to set up your class schedule
- Learn about our campus and all our resources you will use to be successful
- And MORE!
Remember, attendance is mandatory. At the completion of the orientation we will assit you in registering for your classes.

Registration is in full swing and students are snatching up classes for the summer semester! BUT DON’T FORGET FALL! Many students don’t realize they we are actively registering for the Fall 2011 courses! Don’t be the last tor register for fall, come see an advisor today. You will be glad you did!

Optimal Resume at the Career Center!
The NMSU-A Career Center has a new system set up for students to build an online resume! Just visit https://nmsu.optimalresume.com/ and begin the process of creating your resume. There are so many features this program can offer:
- Design high-impact resumes based on your major and career goals
- Easily create resumes in several formats, including Word® Compatible, Plain Text, PDF, and HTML
- Manage an unlimited number of resumes
- Include your resume in your own professional website, which you can update, deactivate, and reactivate as your career progresses
