Work-Study
Basic Eligibility Requirements: The Financial Aid Office provides information for work-study positions on and off campus. Students must have a completed financial aid file, a 2.0 continuing GPA, and be enrolled at least half-time each semester to be eligible for work-study. First semester Freshmen must have a 3.0 high school GPA, and GED recipients must establish a college GPA.
At this time many work-study positions have been filled, and we have exhausted our work-study funds. Please check back later for updates.
Position Descriptions
Adult Basic Education Office
Title: Office Aid
Positions Available: 4 (Fall 2010 semester)
Duties: Light office work to include answering the phone, filing, assisting with student testing, assisting teachers with photocopying, recording data, etc.
Qualifications: Good phone and customer service etiquette, ability to follow written and verbal directions. Must follow ABE’s confidentially policies.
Pay: $7.50/hr (20 hours per week)

Community Education Office
Title: Office Aid
Positions Available: 1 (Fall 2010 semester)
Duties: Phone receptionist, register Community Education students, prepare instructor packets, enter class information into computer, may help set-up for classes and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Pleasant and engaging personality on the phone, basic computer skills. Must be organized and able to assist in filing. Must have excellent language/grammar skills.
Pay: $7.50/hr (20 hours per week)

Facilities
Title: Grounds Keeper Work-study
Positions Available: 2 (Fall 2010 semester)
Duties: Assists NMSU-A Grounds Maintenance Staff with various grounds maintenance projects that include weeding, pruning, outside trash, and weekly pickup of recycling containers in all the buildings, parking lots trash pickup, painting, minor plumbing repairs and equipment maintenance..
Qualifications: Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and willing to learn. Must have hours available to work between 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Must provide contact person with availability schedule and work-study award information.
Pay: $7.50/hr (20 hours per week)

Faculty Office (HSSE)
Title: Faculty work-study
Positions Available: 2 (Fall 2010 semester)
Duties: Copy and collate materials, help students and others seeking information, take messages, communicate messages and enter data in computer.
Qualifications: Strong work ethic, good customer service skills, basic computer skills, ability to work with others, strong communication skills and dependability.
Pay: $7.50/hr (20 hours per week)

Human Resources Office
Title: Office Aid
Positions Available: 2 (Fall 2010 semester)
Duties: Assist in the Human Resources Office and occasionally the Academic Affairs/VPA office. Answering phones, filing assisting employees and the general public with HR related paperwork. Pick up mail, photocopy, shredding, data entry, and other general office duties.
Qualifications: 1 year office experience required.

Media Information Department
Title: Media Information Coordinator
Positions Available: 1(Fall 2010)
Duties: Relay messages, set up equipment, record presentations, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Minimal training provided. Must be able to exhibit professional behavior during stressful situations. Must be able to pay attention to detail, be reliable, honest and trustworthy.

MESH – Science Center
Title: Office Aide
Positions Available: 1(Fall 2010)
Duties: Answer and direct phone calls, help students and faculty as needed, typing, filing, data entry, picking up mail, photocopying, shredding, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Must be friendly, able to follow oral and written communications and work 2 evenings per week from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. computer skills should include knowledge of Word and Excel.
Pay: $7.50/hr (Up to 19 hours per week)

Theatre – NMSU-A
Title: Production Assistant
Positions Available: 1 (Fall 2010)
Duties: Assist director of theatre with backstage organization. Will help gather and maintain props, costumes, and other production tasks as requested. Will also work on production billboard signs, so a steady hand for painting would be beneficial. May also assist with production publicity.
Qualifications: Good organizational skills, knowledge of theatre production process beneficial. Must be able to follow directions and complete tasks according to instructions..

Theatre – NMSU-A Scene Shop
Title: Sign Shop Technician
Positions Available: 2 (Fall 2010)
Duties: Assist in construction, painting, decorating of theatre sets. Assist in the maintenance and installation of lighting and sound equipment. Operate an assortment of hand and power tools. Assist in the organization and cleaning of the scene shop. Perform all duties within the guidelines of safety regulations. Perform related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications: Physical ability to climb ladders and perform assigned functions on ladders. Ability to use hand-held and stationary tools. Ability to lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to follow safety regulations and procedures in the operation of tools and construction methods. Some experience or training in drawing and/or painting preferred.
Pay: $7.50/hr (20 hours per week)
