Work Study Listings

The Financial Aid Office provides information for workstudy positions on and off campus. Students must have a completed Financial Aid File, a 2.0 continuing GPA, and be enrolled at least half-time each semester to be eligible for workstudy. First semester Freshman must have a 3.0 high school GPA, and GED recipients must establish a college GPA.

Advising

Office Aide - $6.55/hr (20 hrs. per week)

Positions Available: 2

Greet students, type, answer phones, bulk mailings, prepare files, create and maintain documents, run errands, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Must be friendly, motivated, and organized. Computer skills should include knowledge of Word, Excel and Publisher.

Advising/Career Center

Aide - $6.55/hr (Any hrs. per week)

Maintain and update files, organize Career Center Library, assist students with job searches and Choices. Create documents, flyers, and presentations.

Qualifications: Skill with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher

Art Department/Theater

Scene Shop Technician - $6.55/hr (20 hrs. per week)

Assist in painting, decorating, and constructing theater sets. Maintain and install lighting and sound equipment, operate hand and power tools, organize and clean scene shop, follow safety regulations, perform related tasks. do all of this within guidelines of safety regulations.

Qualifications: Ability to climb ladders and perform tasks on them, use hand-held and stationary tools, lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds in weight. Some experience or training in drawing and/or painting preferred.

Audiovisual

Audiovisual Aide - $6.55/hr (20 hrs. per week)

Duties will include, but will not be limited to: Answer telephone and relay messages, make student ID cards, video tape student presentations, deliver materials to various locations on campus, deliver and set up equipment in classrooms, clean equipment in classrooms, perform other tasks as required.

Qualifications: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Qualifications: Must be dependable, reliable, honest and able to work without close supervision.

To be considered, applicant must be eligible for financial aid and submit an application which can be picked up at the Media Services Office.

Engineering Technology

Work Study - $6.50/hr (15 hrs. per week)

Duties will include, but not limited to: assist the staff and faculty with various duties such as laboratory repair, configuration, and installation of the IT, ET, and soldering lab equipment to include hardware and software. Also assist faculty and staff with other duties during the semester as required to include copying, laboratory setup, and testing of laboratory procedures.

Qualifications: Must be enrolled in the Engineering Technology program in Electronic, Information, or Biomedical Technology curricula.

Facilities - Physical Plant

Grounds Aide - $6.75/hr (20 hrs. per week)

Work under the direction of the groundskeeper, assist with jobs as needed to maintain NMSU-A property.

Human Resources

Student Aide - $6.55/hr (20 hrs. per week)

General office duties as assigned by Payroll/Personnel Supervisor. Filing, copying, faxing, shredding, answering phones, assisting with H.R. paperwork and special projects. Customer service in H.R. and Admin area to include answering questions and directing customers.

Qualifications: Ability to work efficiently with general public, excellent verbal and written skills, good telephone etiquette, and computer experience. Must be able to maintain highest standard of confidentiality.

Receptionist for Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) and Human Resource Office with clerical duties, including using MS Word and Excel, filing, answering phones, copying, faxing, and mailing.

Library

Library Aide - $6.55/hr (15-20 hrs. per week)

Duties: Work at the main service desk; checking in/out books; helping students with research; shelving books and keeping shelves in order; answering the phone; entering information into computer programs, such as Excel.

Qualifications: We would prefer good computer skills and library experience, but we will train.
