Explore the world’s largest gypsum dune field. At 240 square miles, White Sands is one of the most unique geologic features of New Mexico. Learn how the dune field was formed. Find out some of the special adaptations that have allowed plants and animals to exist in this harsh environment. Discover the wonder of crypto-biotic soil.┬áDress for the weather. It can be variable in November. Bring lunch, plenty of water, sunscreen, a hat, etc.
