Phlebotomy Technician Training
Classes begin Summer 2015
The Phlebotomy Technician program is offered by the Community Education Department of NMSU Alamogordo in partnership with National Collegiate Partners. The program consists of 40 class hours of study and lab practice in preparation for the certification exam. Gain both theoretical and practical training. Learn the skills necessary to perform various tasks involved with blood collection services.

Days: Monday and Thursday
Cost: $2,195 which includes tuition, books, materials, and certification exam.
Students who register before class starts will receive a $200 discount!
Location: Classes are held at the NMSU Alamogordo campus located at 2400 North Scenic Drive in Alamogordo.
Subjects covered in this course include:
- Anatomy and Physiology of the circulatory system
- Universal safety precautions and procedures
- Methods of patient and specimen identification
- Preparing and performing venipuncture collection
- Identifying color codes used for blood specimens
- Preparing blood specimens for laboratory use
- Review for Phlebotomy Technician Certification Exam
- Basic Computer and typing skills (25-30 wpm)
- Basic algebra skills
- Commitment to rigorous course schedule
This course has been approved by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Once a student successfully passes the 40 hours of classroom study, he or she will be registered for the NHA certification exam for Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT). The cost of the certification exam is included in the tuition amount. For more information, please visit the NHA website at www.nhanow.com. This non-credit course does not qualify for Pell Grants or financial aid normally available for academic classes. However, some types of financial assistance are available.
