Instructor Dan Stouffer is an award winning watercolorist of the White Sands. Learn techniques for capturing the dune shapes, shadows and vegetation during indoor demonstrations and workshop style instruction. Evening sunset outdoor lectures, for observation and photography, will inspire your work.
Hiking Level: Some off-trail hiking is possible. Slight elevation gain.
Monday

10:00 – Noon: Demo/class painting

Supply List:
Feel free to adapt, add, and use materials with which you are most comfortable.
- Paper – bring enough to paint several small- to medium-sized images. Watercolor blocks are fine, or you can tape down paper on foam-core board or something similar. Weight and finish is your choice. The instructor uses 300-pound Arches CP.
- Paints – French ultramarine blue, burnt sienna, yellow ochre, cadmium yellow (medium or dark), alizarin crimson.
- Brushes – 3 flats (large, medium, small) and several rounds (1,2,4,6,8,12).
- Miscellaneous – Water jar, palette (i.e. dinner plate), toothbrush, tissues, razor blade, drawing pencil (#4H), and soft eraser.
- Optional – Hair dryer (if you want quick drying) and Maskoid.
