Computer Accounts
Types of Computer Accounts
Computer Services maintains two systems which students, faculty, and staff may use. A network account is required to use most computers on campus.
The second system is used for web pages, Unix/Linux programming, learning Unix/Linux, etc. An account on the Linux system is only necessary if you plan to publish web pages or have some other need to access a Linux operating system.
Network Accounts
Registered NMSU-A students who have a my.nmsu account have their accounts setup two days before the semester starts. These accounts are good for the academic year and are deleted after the spring semester. Those students who have not activated their my.nmsu account must do so before they are given a login account. A computer is setup in the computer lab, SC 104, for students to activate their account and print out their current class schedule.
Linux System Accounts
Registered students, faculty, and staff may also publish their own web pages by electronically submitting an application for a Linux account.
Student Printing
Students printing in SC 104, ASC, and Library are charged .05 single and .10 for duplex. Each student is given $5.00 at the beginning of the academic year for printing. Students needing additional printing monies must first pay at the Business Office then bring the receipt to the Computer Lab to add the additional money to their account.
