Computer Accounts

Types of Computer Accounts

Computer Services maintains two systems which students, faculty, and staff may use.  A network account is required to use most computers on campus.  This account allows the use of networked software and dial up access.

The second system is used for web pages, Unix/Linux programming, learning Unix/Linux, etc.  An account on the Linux system is only necessary if you plan to publish web pages or have some other need to access a Linux operating system.

Network Accounts

Registered NMSU-A students may get their network account for the semester beginning the first day of each semester.  Bring proof of current semester’s registration or current semester’s ID and completely fill out a login form which is available at the lab assistant desk in the main Computer Lab in SC104.

Student network accounts are deleted at the end of the spring and summer semester.

Registered NMSU (othern campuses) students may get a network account at NMSU-A after paying a $20.00 computer usage fee at the Business Office.  Bring the receipt to the Computer Center and fill out a login form which is available at the lab assistant desk in SC104.

Linux System Accounts

Registered students, faculty, and staff may also publish their own web pages by electronically submitting an application for a Linux account.
