NMSU-A Hosts 3rd Annual Health and Wellness Fair

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. – NMSU Alamogordo with corporate sponsor Blue Cross Blue Shield will be holding a Health and Wellness Fair on Saturday, February 17 from 8 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., at the Tays Center on the NMSU-A campus.

The opening ceremony, which begins at 8:00 a.m. Throughout the day a variety of fitness workout sessions will take place at the Tays Center. Among the different options for participants to choose from are core muscle training, basic Hatha Yoga, and Qi Gong.

Free health screenings (BMI, Blood pressure, Blood Glucose and Cholesterol screening), provided by NMSU-A’s Allied Health Department and Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico, will take place throughout the day. And exhibitions in the Tays lobby and gymnasium will showcase information and products related to nutrition, fitness, and occupational health.

This year we will have four guest speakers on three important topics: Exercise Injuries with the Alamogordo Physical Therapy, Diabetes with Dr. Andrew Lancaster M.D. Endocrinologist, and Nutrition Information with Susan Poore and Janae Kraus.

The obstacle race will focus on individual’s strength and cardiovascular training. It will include three loops around the NMSU Alamogordo fitness trail while addressing obstacles (wall climbs, tire pulls, net crawls, jumping and carrying drills). The race will provide the individual with an introduction to the rapid growing OBSTACLE COURSE RACING (OCR). The event will close with a coed volleyball mini tournament.
