John received his Associates degree in Commercial Art at a small junior college and acquired his BFA degree in Advertising and Design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.  He was the creative director and owner of a successful graphic design business in the San Francisco East Bay for over 20 years before moving to New Mexico to teach full-time and escape the madness of the big city.  John currently teaches the majority of the graphic design courses at NMSU-A and is the Area Coordinator for the Fine Art, Graphic Design, Photography and Animation programs.  He is also an accomplished public art sculptor who works in various mediums, such as bronze, ceramics, steel and wood.  John started teaching at NMSU-A in fall 2003.
