Partners in Education
January 28, 2009
One of NMSU-A’s most important community connections is its active participation in the Partners in Education program sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and supported by the area businesses and schools.
For 11 years, NMSU-A has endeavored to create positive experiences for the students in the partnering schools by supporting meaningful exchanges between the college and those schools. Some of the activities include: 1) NMSU-A’s Honor Roll recognition of students each grading period, 2) campus tours, 3) end-of-year academic excellence awards, 4) student art exhibits in the Townsend Library, and 4) NMSU-A recognition of school faculty and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. Additionally, active exchanges through shared activities between NMSU-A and its partnering schools are added throughout each school year.

Saturday, February 21st, NMSU-A will host a Financial Aid assistance initiative from 1:00 - 3:00 pm in the Student Services lobby. This is a non-profit program that provides free information and assistance to New Mexico families applying for financial assistance for higher education. CGS brings together financial aid professionals who have volunteered to help families of college-bound students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) . Throughout the nation, the FAFSA is a federally required form for students seeking financial assistance, including grants and loans.
CGS is sponsored by the Lumina Foundation for Education, an Indianapolis based, private, independent foundation that strives to help people achieve potential by expanding their access to and success in education beyond high school. Attendees must be aware that NMSU-A is only providing the location and volunteers for this assistance.
