Grand Opening
October 6, 2009
Wednesday, October 7th at 10:00 am, NMSU-A will host a Grand Opening/Ribbon-Cutting ceremony for the new Reidlinger Science Center addition. The ceremony will commence with opening remarks by NMSU-A President, Dr. Cheri Jimeno and will include a “special” presentation. A reception will follow in the lobby that connects the original Science Center with the new addition.
This structure is the first LEED Silver Certified building in the University system and is dedicated primarily to the heath sciences programs of Nursing and EMS, but classroom space is utilized by other diciplines as well.
It’s important to note that the third story of this building was made possible by public support with the passing of the local GO Bond.
Tutor Appreciation
October 1, 2009
Everyone is invited to stop by the Academic Support Center Open House, all day on October 7th, to say, “Thank you.” to a tutor. In whatever language you say it, tutors definitely deserve it! The week of October 5th - 9th, the ASC will be celebrating tutor appreciation month with tutor appreciation bags and an open house.
We at the ASC see every day how valuable our tutors are to the NMSU-A community. ASC tutors go beyond tutoring reading, writing and arithmetic; they also offer students moral support and encouragement. We have watched them help students navigate the complexity of word processing. On occasion they become GPS systems, directing students to the computer lab, student services office, faculty offices, and classrooms. So, take a moment to think about the many useful things the tutors do every day, then stop by the ASC and say “Thank you.” Cookies for all who come by on October 7th!
