They should be paid more, but whether we like it or not, they are responsible for taking care of the kids while at school. Why? Because no one else is there to do it. Place more law enforcement there if needed, but make sure it’s safe. this is not a traditional world, it typically takes two parents working to support a household. If everyone could home school I am sure they would, which might be the answer.

Excellent job on this most recent edition of The Crimson Gazette. All of the students working on this online newsletter are to be congratulated for their efforts. Thank you, Jack. Bullying is a serious issue for everyone, far and wide. I would argue that the people being bullied aren’t central to the actual problem. The people who do the bullying are the problem. More importantly, what is going on with the “bullies” in regards to their home lives. What about their parents? I agree teachers are responsible for children while in their care, but where does the blame game end? If people were vigilant about instilling respect, discipline, and etiquette in their children, we wouldn’t have to see lives affected on both sides of bullying. Teachers get paid to teach not babysit, or protect, much less, be a surrogate parent. If we’re gonna put all of this trust and responsibility in teachers as we thrust our children out into the world, why aren’t teachers paid much more?

The bullying issue occurs so often because school officials do not do their jobs to make sure it doesn’t happen, and school is a safe environment for their students. Parents send their kids to school because the law requires it, they have to hope they are sending them to safe environment where others take care of them. But, this is not happening. A child looks to their parents to take care of them, but they have to send them to a place where the only way they know their child is safe is to trust others to keep them that way, and it just isn’t happening. Looking at “where the parents are in all this” is not the answer, it is why aren’t they being protected by those paid to do so. I’m sure many will say they don’t get paid enough, well that is the way the world is. We are all stretched thin and underpaid, who isn’t,that is the just the way it is, accept it and stop making excuses and start giving explanations. Bullying will stop when people are not punished for defending themselves. Scratch that, they should be sent to an environment where they shouldn’t have to worry about that in the first place.
