Scholar Dollar Deadline, March 1, 2013: Apply for all NMSU Scholarships with One Application.

Students can apply for all available NMSU Scholarships by completing one application. The 2013-2014 “Scholar Dollar” Application Deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013.

To apply, students use their MyNMSU login and password and log into

On April 1 “scholars and dollars” will be matched and students will be notified via their NMSU e-mail.

NMSU-A’s 2012-2013 All-State Academic Team

Hannah McCurdy is an outstanding student and displays effective leadership in campus and community service.  Hannah is a Crimson Scholar, a Meritorious Graduate, and carries a 3.8 GPA.  She received the NMSU Alumni Outstanding Graduate award for the Professional Technologies Division based partially on her academic achievements.  Her campus leadership is impressive, serving as Senator & President of the Student Government, Vice President of Leadership for Phi Theta Kappa, and President of the Student Media Solutions Student Group (which she was co-founder).  For the community, Hannah has volunteered as a Teacher’s Assistant for Alamogordo Public Schools, a Space Academy Volunteer, and as web master for the Otero Youth Football League.  As a returning student and mother of two, she plans to continue her education at NMSU and pursue a degree in computer science.

Patrick Stewart excels in academic, campus, and community service.  With a 3.93 GPA, he is a Crimson Scholar and on the Dean’s List.  On campus, Patrick served as Student Government Senator, Vice President of Scholarship for Phi Theta Kappa, and Vice President of the Culinary Club.  In the community, He volunteered as a crew leader for the Forest Service and as a team leader/chaperone for numerous marching band competitions.  Patrick loves languages and is learning Mandarin and German.  He intends to continue his education in Linguistics and Business and hopes to one day become a United States Ambassador.


Late Degree Application Deadline and Certificate Deadline: March 1

Have you registered for the last course on your degree plan?

If yes, it’s time to file for your degree application. The deadline for late applications is March 1.  Late fees apply. Applications are available through MyNMSU.


March 1 is also the deadline for Certificate Applications. You can pick up your certificate application at the Advising Department. Certificate applications are $10.

Las Cruces Advisors on NMSU-A Campus March 13

Advisors from multiple Las Cruces departments will be on the NMSU Alamogordo campus on Tuesday, March 13 from 9am to 5pm to speak to students planning to transfer to Las Cruces.

Advisors are coming from the following departments.

  • * College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) (till 2:30pm)

NMSU-A Celebrates Women’s History Month.

NMSU-A will recognize Women’s History Month in March with a series of lunchtime events, beginning Monday, March 18th and concluding Thursday, March 21st. Join us each day and help us celebrate some of the outstanding women in history and learn of their contributions to our society and world. Also, during March, students (only) can compete in the silhouette contest – “Who Am I?” – that will be in the glass house. The winner of the contest will be presented with a Kindle at the Open Mic on March 21.

Monday, March 18

Panel discussion – “Women in Business” hosted by SBDC in the Library Media Studio – begins 12:15 pm – light refreshments

Tuesday, March 19

Lecture presented by Kathy Roark Diehl entitled:  “Mary Wollstonecraft, Revolution and Feminist Dilemma” – in the Library Media Studio – begins 12:15 pm – ‘brown bag’ event, beverage provided

Wednesday, March 20

Women in the Arts – composers, poets, and artists

Art displays, live music, and poetry readings in the Townsend Library – begins 12:15 pm – light refreshments

Thursday, March 21

Open Mic on the patio – students, faculty, & staff are invited to share which women inspired them in their lives – free popcorn

NMSU-A Fall Semester Dean’s List.

Following the close of the semester, each college dean publishes a list of students who have achieved honor standing in grades for the previous semester. To be eligible, a student must have been enrolled in 12 or more semester credits with a computable grade in each. The top 15% of eligible students by college for that semester will be named to the Dean’s Honor List.

NMSU Alamogordo, Alamogordo High School (host), and the business community are gearing up for the 3rd annual CTE Career Expo on Thursday, February 21st in the high school commons area from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm. The Expo will provide students the opportunity to meet and talk with many business/career experts from across our region.

NMSU-A and AHS are committed to providing our community with a well-educated work force to meet the needs of business and industry. The Expo provides a way for our community to participate in the educational process of our future politicians, scientists, doctors, lawyers, educators, engineers, nurses.
