Spring 2013 Outstanding Graduates
Michael Finley, Matthew Harris, and Jerry S. Kimmel were selected as the Outstanding Graduate from their respective instructional divisions. They will be recognized and honored Wednesday, April 24th at noon in the End-of-Semester Awards and Recognition Ceremony to be held on the campus patio.
Michael is the Outstanding Graduate from the Mathematics, Engineering, Science, and Health Division (MESH). He has held the designation of Crimson Scholar since fall semester of 2011 and has been named to the Dean’s Honors List. He is also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and is a tutor in the Academic Support Center. He will graduate with an Associates of Science in May and plans to continue his education at NMSU by earning a Bachelors in Fisheries, Wildlife, & Conservation Ecology. His future plans include a career with the U.S. Forest Service.
Matthew is the Outstanding Graduate from the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Education Division (HSSE). Winner of the Marvin D. Rohovec Scholarship, he is extremely active on campus as Journalism Club President, Student Government Vice President, Editor-in-Chief of the “Crimson Gazette” student newspaper, and active member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and the Student Media Solutions campus group. He also tutors in the Academic Support Center. He will graduate with an Associates of Arts Degree this May.
Jerry, Outstanding Graduate from the Professional Occupations, Technologies, and Fine Arts Division, will earn his Associates in Applied Science in Biomedical Equipment Technology this May. He is the BioMed work study in charge of intern enrollment and development, has played an instrumental role in re-energizing the Biomedical curriculum, and has assisted with the location and purchase of equipment for the Biomedical laboratory. He has a continuing Academic Tuition Scholarship, is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, and is a member of the Alpha Chi Society (must have a 3.8 or above GPA). Jerry is the past 2nd Vice Commander, American Legion and currently is the senior biomedical intern at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center. He was recently hired (December) by Universal Hospital Services (UHS) as the hospital Quality Coordinator to repair all types of biomedical equipment. Jerry will begin his Bachelors Degree in Applied Studies at NMSU this fall.
