Dr. Juan Garcia, Vice President for Student Success, would like to inform the campus that the Student Success Department will be closed on Saturday, July 20, 2013. Regular Saturday hours will resume on July 27. New Student Orientation is scheduled on this day from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Also, please note that the Advising Staff will be in training on Tuesday, July 23. Regular hours in the Advising Department will resume on Wednesday, July 24.
Reece Broughton, Joshua Cope, and Margaret Turpin were awarded Summer Community College Opportunity for Research Experience (SCCORE) internships during the month of June, 2013. NMSU-A STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) majors are eligible for the summer internships which include four weeks paid housing at the NMSU Las Cruces dorms, including meals, paid university registration and course enrollment fees, paid activity fees, and a student stipend of $1,500.
Reece and Joshua worked as research assistants on the Re-inventing the Nation’s Urban Water Infrastructure (ReNUWIt) program, a joint effort with Stanford, Berkeley, Colorado School of Mines and New Mexico State University. Margaret worked as a research assistant on the National Alliance for Advanced Biofuels and Bioproducts university and research institution consortium.
Reece, Joshua and Margaret learned how to conduct research and report their findings. They will present their findings, alongside students pursuing their doctoral degrees, at the NM AMP (New Mexico Alliance for Minority Participation) conference this October.

July 1st, NMSU-A launched a new online Career Services tool called CareerBeam. Current students and alumni can use the career tools such as assessments, planning, resume assistance, help with interviews and much more. Students can go to NMSU-A’s CareerBeam Login page to create their account and use CareerBeam immediately!
