Jason Brockett was born in Los Angeles but has called southern New Mexico his home for some time. An NMSU Alum with a BA in Communication Studies and a minor in Digital Film Making, Jason had previously worked in commercial radio for the past 13 years before joining the NMSU-A family as Academic Advisor & Career Counselor on June 1st. Currently, Jason is pursuing his Master of Humanities with an emphasis in Film Studies, albeit balancing life as a father and husband. NMSU-A’s First Annual Discovery Fair

audra | June 27, 2014 | Comments (0)

On Friday, June 20, at the Willie Estrada Civic Center, NMSU-A hosted the first annual Discovery Fair, a new community event that opened the doors to NMSU-A for adults and children from Alamogordo, Otero County and beyond, engaging them in free, quality hands-on experiences. The NMSU-A Discovery Fair also offered information about NMSU-A’s upcoming classes and academic programs. The Open House provided information on the college’s degree and certificate programs, and provided special workshops on admission and financial aid. Also available was information about the Pro-Active Advising program, a platform that includes additional support and a specialized orientation for those students who are attending college for the first time, plan to attend full-time, and who would like to graduate in two years.

Attendees had the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff, and current students and learn about academic support services, programs and career services, transfer opportunities, and paying for college. There were many interactive experiences and activities, including tire checks from NMSU-A Automotive Program, fingerprinting by the Alamogordo Department of Public Safety and so much more.
