Welcome to NMSU-A!
We are delighted you have chosen NMSU Alamogordo (NMSU-A) for your educational needs. We believe our faculty and staff are among the best in the state, and we are here to assist you. We deliver courses onsite, online or in hybrid format. Please be sure to check out our course schedule.
Our campus enrollment continues to grow as does our commitment to insure the completion of your academic goals. During the coming years, the campus will develop and implement additional strategies that will enhance our commitment to engagement, instructional programs and student services. We are counting on you (the student) to be an active participant in this process.
Our Academic Support Center (ASC) provides excellent tutoring and testing services. Please be sure to take advantage of these services. At Student Services, you will find assistance with advising, financial aid, admissions and registration. Please be sure to frequently visit our friendly Student Services staff; they are here to assist you with your educational needs.
Your support of a student technology fee helped the campus implement a technology plan that provides a planned approach to keeping our academic computing facilities up-to-date. One item you should notice is improved speed of access to the Internet. This change in access speed is due to the funding support you provided through the student technology fee. Also, please note that by the end of fall semester 2011, all buildings on the campus will be wireless capable.
We continue to improve our campus facilities by “going green.” Our Allied Health addition that is home to our nursing and EMS programs was the first building in the New Mexico State University system to receive LEED (Leadership in Energy Environmental Design) Gold certification. We just received word that our Advanced Technology Center received LEED Gold certification as well. Please note that we only use “green” standard cleaning products and even though we have added building square footage, our overall consumption of heat and electricity has declined.
We continue to be very optimistic about NMSU-A’s future and the directions we are going. This campus is a place where each of you can make a significant contribution and achieve success. Have a great year!
