Live Your Dream Award applications due Friday

Female undergraduate students at New Mexico State University who are the primary wage earner/source of financial support for their families (including children, spouse, siblings and/or parents) are encouraged to apply for the Live Your Dream Award given by Soroptimist International of Las Cruces.

Students must have at least one person besides themselves who they are financially supporting to be eligible. Students from the Las Cruces campus as well as branch campuses may apply.

The $1,000 award can be used for tuition, books, transportation, childcare or any other expense associated with attaining an undergraduate degree. The local winner will then be eligible for awards of $5,000 at the district level and $10,000 at the national level.

Bachelor’s Degree Scholarships

Phi Theta Kappa offers Bachelor’s Degree scholarships for students seeking to further their college education.

Our students have received Gold and Silver Scholarship Awards as part of the Coca-Cola Academic Team and All-New Mexico Community College All-Academic Team. In the past four years, two of our students, Heather Kangas, and Tiantian Trimble, received the designation of a New Century Scholar, as top scorer in the state of New Mexico.

NMSU-A students: Go to to look at a number of scholarship opportunities. Some of the scholarships are only open to Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society members, but other scholarships are open to all students.

Among the many scholarships, note the All-USA Community College Academic Team Scholarship and its allied Coca-Cola and All-State Academic Team Scholarship. These scholarships are open to all NMSU-Alamogordo students and candidates usually are second-year students with at least a 3.5 GPA and are engaged in campus and community service and leadership.

Sign in (if you are a PTK member use your regular sign-in procedure; if you are not a member of PTK, register online) and complete the eligibility quiz. If you are eligible for the scholarship, then continue on to complete the quite extensive application form.

Note: We have an internal deadline for completion, November 5, 2018. At that point the All-USA Scholarship Selection Committee will choose the top two candidates and work with them to produce the best application for final submission in early December.

Newsome Melton started the Student Leadership Scholarship to recognize student leaders and to help them get an education that will allow them to continue their efforts to make a difference in their communities.

Children between the ages of 16-26 whose veteran parent was killed in action or died as a result of their wounds incurred in battle, qualify for a full tuition waiver at any state funded post-secondary school. A $150 stipend, per semester, will be issued to help with books or fees.


  • Must be a continuing or re-admitted NMSU-A student with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and must have earned 12 or more NMSU credits (must not have earned 70 or more credits including transfer credits)
  • Must enroll in a minimum of 6 credits or more at the NMSU-A campus

Second Semester Renewal Policy

  • Must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Must enroll in a minimum of 6 or more NMSU-A credits

Re-application Policy
Students may re-apply for the following year provided that they have maintained a minimum 2.5 cumulative NMSU GPA and have not earned 70 or more credits including transfer credits.

The Grace UMC Endowment Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of applications for the Tharp Educational, Kiel Bonnell, Dr. Joe & Zoe Emanuel, and J.E.T. Scholarships. Scholarships are open to qualifying graduating high school seniors and current full-time college students in Otero County.
