Writing Support Available Online

Receive online input from an Academic Support Center writing tutor. To do so, submit your paper as an attachment (in Word format) to writinghelp@nmsua.nmsu.edu. You should include in your e-mail, the name of the class for which you are submitting the paper for, the instructor name, and any comments or concerns you have about the paper that you would like the tutor to address. Responses will be within 48 hours when you submit your writing on a weekday. If submitted on a weekend, you will receive a response within 48 hours of Monday morning. Congratulations Graduate!

The Thirty-Third Annual Graduation Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Tays Special Events Center. Please let us know if you plan to attend the graduation ceremony so we can reserve your seat.

Financial Aid Student Deadlines

Students who need to add a class for Financial Aid purposes, have the following deadlines:

16-week classes must be added by January 27.
2nd 8-week classes can be added through February 1.

U.S. Census Jobs (part-time, temporary) are now available starting at $9.00 per hour through the U.S. Census Bureau. Get paid weekly, work flexible hours, and receive reimbursement for mileage and other work-related expenses. Paid training too!

Qualifications include:

At least 18 years of age
U.S. Citizen or Legal permanent Resident or non-citizen with appropriate work visas
Valid Social Security Number
Pass written exam of basic skills
Have valid driver’s license
Pass a required background check
If male, must have registered with Selective Service

Textbooks Available in Library

Some spring 2010 textbooks are available to students in the Townsend library. Those that are will be available for “in-library” use only, for a three-hour checkout period.

Check with your instructor to see if that class’ text is available, or call the library at 439-3650. You can also email your inquiry to library@nmsua.nmsu.edu.

Trades Center Groundbreaking

Degree Application Deadline

January 20, 2010 is the deadline for filing degree applications for all students meeting requirements at the end of spring 2010. Applications are available at the Advising office.

Student Book Charge Account

Beginning on or about December 31, 2009, students can apply for a Student Book Charge Account so that they may charge their books. Here are the instructions:

Go to the main campus bookstore website at http://www.nmsu.edu/nmsubookstores/.
Click on link for applying for a Student Book Charge Account.
Fill out the application.
Print out application for your records.
Submit the application.

Processing time is approximately 48 hours. Students can charge books one week before and up to two-weeks after the first day of classes.

Your charges will not be taken out of your financial aid disbursement. You will need to make your payment to the NMSU or NMSU-A Business Office. Your balance must be paid by the end of the semester or no further book charges will be allowed.

This application must be filled out each new semester.
