Online Tutoring

Welcome to the NMSU-A Academic Support Center’s Online Tutoring Page!

For access to the Academic Support Center’s Online Tutoring, please contact Miguel Viscarra () or Maria Saenz ().

Via CANVAS, students will now be able to meet with Academic Support Center tutors during normal business hours to acquire assistance and guidance in areas of reading, writing, math, and science.

ASC Tutors will be logged into CANVAS chat during regular business hours (listed at the top of this page).

For general questions, students can post to the “Communication Lounge” in the Discussion Page. An ASC Tutor or ASC Administrator will respond promptly to student inquiries.

Students should also consider logging into “Chat.” This will allow for real-time communications with ASC Tutors when available, in addition to providing options for live one-on-one tutoring sessions via webcam/microphone. Thus, it’s important that students have a webcam and microphone capabilities on their computer to use the ASC Online Tutoring Page to its fullest extent.

For online paper submission, students can submit typed work to the Paper Submission link in the Assignments Tab. Students should also submit their assignment sheet for the submitted work to ensure that ASC Tutors know their instructor’s expectations. ASC Tutors will review submitted work and have it returned with comments and suggestions to the student within 48 hours.

Should students need to seek tutoring assistance outside of ASC business hours, NMSU-A students now have free access to the Brain Fuse program. Brain Fuse is a web-hosted software program that provides 24/7 tutoring assistance to students all over the nation. Students will be able to seek tutoring assistance from a number of live professionals in a variety of courses and disciplines.

If you are a student that is off-campus and would like to use the Brain Fuse program, you’ll need to go through the authentication page, login using your NMSU username and your Banner ID as the password. For a short tutorial on how to setup your account, please visit the site below.

To access live Brain Fuse tutoring, please visit the site below. It is called “Help Now.”
